Puppy Linux

Puppy Linux can be installed on computers with marginal resources that may not be capable of running Xubuntu Linux effectively.

As of 2009 these would include computers with these resources:

CPU

Runs effectively on processors running at 300 mhz or more (It is preferrable to install Xubuntu instead if possible, which usually means a CPU at 650 mhz or more)

Memory

256M allows Puppy to run totally from memory (Fast!)

128M required for installing Puppy version 4 +

64M required for installing Puppy version 3 (this may be useful for laptops with minimal memory that need an OS)

Disk

A 500m disk partition is required for full install (swap partition is extra)

Installation

Puppy can be downloaded from --  http://www.puppylinux.com/download/index.html

As of 2009 the current version is Puppy 4.x

The basic Puppy install includes all required applications (including Flash video).

After installing Puppy you must use the Network Wizard to configure the Internet connection.
